For many HR professionals, this year’s wish list for Santa, no doubt, includes some much-needed and long-delayed clarity regarding the new (and ever-evolving) requirements for Harassment Prevention Training for California employers. Well, the DFEH has made Santa’s job a little easier, courtesy of a few just added FAQs.

The new FAQs confirm that the deadline for all employees to be trained is January 1, 2021 and that the existing requirement for employers of 50 or more employees to train new supervisors within six months of assuming their supervisory position will be expanded to all employees (supervisory and non-supervisory) of all employers with five or more employees effective January 1, 2021.

Additionally, the DFEH has affirmed that all seasonal and temporary employees hired for a period of fewer than six months must receive training within 30 calendar days after the hire date, or within 100 hours worked, whichever occurs first, beginning January 1, 20212. Employees that are brought in to work fewer than 30 calendar days are not required to complete the training.
